How VetMyCar works

Everything on the free side works without creating an account. Only the paid vehicle history and valuation checks need you to be logged in, since they're tied to a real purchase you'll want to access again later.

1Enter a registration number

We pull free MOT history straight from DVSA — test results, mileage at each test, and why a car failed if it ever did, plus basic details like fuel type and engine size.

2Work through the inspection checklist

A 47-point checklist covering what to check before you travel to see the car, during the viewing, and after you've agreed to buy — each one with a plain-English reason, not just an instruction.

3Save cars you're considering

Save multiple cars and compare them side by side — mileage, MOT status, and checklist progress at a glance.

4Buy a vehicle history or valuation check, if you want one

See pricing for details. Buy either or both — you're only ever charged for what you don't already have.

Where the data comes from

Free vehicle and MOT data comes from DVSA's official MOT History API. Paid vehicle history and valuation data is supplied by Check Car Details, a UK vehicle data provider.
